Robert Harry Test (Bob) of Abilene died Sunday October 2 2011.   He was born December 10 1942 in Pekin Illinois to Emil Kelly and Helen Mae (Chipman) Test.  At age 4 he and his family moved to Abilene.  He graduated from Cooper High School and went into the radio business at KWKC.  During his long broadcasting career he also worked at KFJZ radio and the Texas State Network in Fort Worth and KRBC-KFQX radio in Abilene.  He will probably be best remembered for his highly popular morning show called T.T.O – This That and the Other with Kirk Woodward and other partners.   In 1986 he became the President/CEO of a struggling Better Business Bureau.  During his tenure there he reshaped the organization retiring all debt and increasing membership during a depressed economy.  In 1991 he was asked to do the same for a  failing Goodwill Industries of Abilene.  During his time as President/CEO Goodwill grew to 11 times the size he found it in and increased retail stores sales figures jobs placement and services leaving it as a thriving viable non-profit for the first time.    Most recently Bob worked as a marketer for Can-Doo Budjet Rentals.    Bob's civic involvements included past president of the Abilene Rotary Club the Salvation Army Building campaign Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board of Directors various committees of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Meals on Wheels Board of Directors and the Ben Richey Boys Ranch Chili Cook Off.   Bob served the citizens of Abilene by running for the City Council in 1984 and later serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the ACT NOW Strategic Planning Task Force among others.  He was also very proud of having received the Martin Luther King Jr. award twice – once for himself in 1993 and once on behalf of Goodwill Industries in 1995.   He married Janis Anne Cochran on June 30 1984.   Bob overcame many challenges associated with his diagnosis of polio at age 4.  In spite of these struggles Bob thrived as a leader and innovator in both the business and civic communities of Abilene.  In March 2009 Bob was diagnosed with an aggressively malignant melanoma.  He fought it bravely while maintaining his integrity courage and most importantly his wonderfully irreverent sense of humor.    Bob is survived by his wife Janis of Abilene his children Kelly and wife Heather of Dallas and Connie of Dallas his brother Terry Test and wife Ginger of Novice and sister Kay Neeley and husband John of Arlington.    He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Emil Test.   Family visitation will be from 4 – 5 p.m. on Saturday October 15th at the Paramount Theatre 352 Cypress St.  A celebration of Bob's life will be immediately afterwards at 5 p.m.    Arrangements by North's Funeral home.     Online condolences may be made at www.northsfuneralhome.com
