Rochelle Lavinia Lawson went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. She was 83. Rochelle was born in Bangalore, India on New Year's Eve in 1937 To Frederick and Rose May Paxton. An English National and granddaughter of hotelier James Lavender, she attended the Presentation Convent Boarding School in Kodaikanal, India until re-patriating to the United Kingdom in 1947. The remainder of her childhood was spent in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom where she married William David Lawson, an American Airman, in 1957. After the birth of her children, her husband was stationed in Minot, North Dakota, Laredo, Texas, and finally Abilene, Texas. For many years she was employed as a Loan Officer at the Air Force Federal Credit Union until taking a position as a receptionist at Outreach Health Services from which she retired in 2013. A beloved Mother, Nana, and Gigi, Rochelle was a devout Christian, an avid gardener, and militant housekeeper throughout her life. Her greatest joy, however, came from the company of her family and friends. More than anything, she loved to sit in a circle on warm Texas evenings with a chardonnay and share stories, memories, and time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a proper English lady who found genuine happiness in committing small acts of kindness, and those who knew her know they are better people because of it. Her poise and humble demeanor were unparalleled. Rochelle is preceded in death by her siblings Jim Paxton, Gina Houghton, Les Paxton, and survived by her Siblings: Cheryl Shield, Guy Paxton, Gavin Paxton; Children: Carole Sanford, William Lawson; Grandchildren: Ashley Jackson, Treavor Lawson, Ciera Lawson, Kyle Sanford, Kalynda Sanford, Trey Lawson, Cameron Lawson; and Great Grandchildren: Bayleigh Jackson, Joshua Lawson, Rochelle Sanford, Hunter Lawson, and Eliza Sanford. In consideration of her values, a gathering to remember her life will take place at her home at 3642 Varsity Lane, Abilene, Texas, on Monday, August 30 at 6:00 pm, where she so often enjoyed the company of her friends and family.
