Obituary

Rosa Flores Pequeno a longtime Abilenian passed away Thursday, October 31, at her daughters home. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, from 2:00 ~ 8:00 pm and Wednesday, November 6, from 11:00 ~ 8:00 pm, with a service to be held at 7:00 pm at Templo Gethsemani, 2001 Park Ave. Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 10:00 am at Templo Gethsemani and Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Rosa was born March 20, 1938, in Coleman, Texas to Juan and Reymunda Flores. She moved with her mother and family in 1946 to Abilene, after her father's passing away. She married Simon Cantu Pequeno October 30, 1955. She was blessed with seven children, 15 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was always warm and gracious to all that came to her home, offering coffee, tea or a glass of water if that was all she had. If you were hungry, she would feed you. She loved music, she praised the Lord with her singing and sang some worldly songs to make her grandchildren laugh. Remember the burrito song? The Indian song? My favorite was the song she made after dad went to be with the Lord. It was her desire to see all of her family saved. She was continually lifting up her family and their families to the Lord, praying for their Salvation and that God protect them from evil. The Bible says, "The greatest of all gifts is love." Mom was truly given a double portion of His gift of love because she loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She walked by faith, gave them to God and trusted that He would keep them safe. Rosa was preceded in death y her parents, Juan and Reymunda Flores, step- dad Rev. Enrrique C. Pequeno, her husband Simon C. Pequeno, her son Simon Pequeno III. two daughters Felipa Pequeno and Rosita Ward, her brothers Gregorio, Roman, Tomas, Eliberto, Juan, Adolfo, Ambrosio, Jose and Jesus Flores, Guadalupe, Enrique and Emiterio Pequeno. Sisters Juaquiana Alcantar and Librada Mendolla. A grand welcome in Heaven! Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Reymunda Herrera, Naomi Gallegos, Sandy Cox, son Pete F. Pequeno all of Abilene. Brothers Manuel Flores, Felipe Flores, Edward Flores, Eliseo Pequeno, and sister Juanita Anderson. The family of Rosa wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Interim Hospice.
