Rosa Maria Thomas, 77, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home. Internment will take place at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Rosa was born on April 16, 1948, in Lyford, Texas, to Nicolas Turrubiates and Angela Maldonado. Born ninth among her six sisters and six brothers, she was a devoted sister as well as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for all of her family and her beloved dogs. She shared 43 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Rick Thomas. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories with their daughter Tricia, and their son Daniel. Rosa found joy and peace in her faith as a devoted Catholic in addition to cooking, crafting, and gardening. Her home was always filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking, especially her cherished Mexican dishes, homemade tortillas, and lemon pepper chicken-favorites among her family. She will be deeply missed.
