Royce Frank Campbell, 84, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Graveside Service will be held in The Texas State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
He was a longtime resident of Abilene and he was a loyal patriot to his country. He spent nine years at overseas locations and while serving in the Army at Corazal, Panama Canel Zone he met the love of his life Elodia Diaz, "Cookie". They shared sixty-three years of marriage.
He was first sergeant of the Black Sheep Squadrons base in Spangdalem, Germany. (49th TAC FTR wing.) He was sergeant major at Dyess Air Force Base during the 1960s. He retired from the Air Force after twenty years of service. Among other medals, he received three commendation medals for outstanding service. He loved his family, old western movies and had an endearing sense of humor.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hallie (Caudle) Campbell and one son, Edward F. Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Elodia Campbell, Two daughters Nadine Campbell and Gayla North and husband David. Two grandsons, Jonathan and Matthew and three great- grandsons Casey, Jonathan and Luke.
