Royce Ray Sutton, 71, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at his home in Abilene, TX surrounded by family. A time of remembrance and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 23, at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 24 at the funeral home, officiated by David Sims. Burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery.
Mr. Ray Sutton was born on February 13, 1952, in Abilene to Ollie Lloyd and IvaLee Sutton. From the time he was 18 until he retired in the Fall of 2016, he worked as a commercial drywall foreman for 3 commercial construction companies all based locally in West Texas. His work included projects spanning from Washington to Florida and from North Carolina to Arizona. In Abilene, he was most proud of his work on ACU's Tower of Light, Abuelo's on S.14th and Abilene Teachers FCU on N.6th. He was passionate about country music and playing guitar with friends and family. When home from his travels, he enjoyed playing boardgames with his grandchildren and watching westerns.
Mr. Ray Sutton was survived by his wife, Jayne Sutton; daughters: Kelly Barnett and husband Vince Barnett, Katrina Patnode and husband Dennis Patnode; sons: Raymond Sutton and wife Rebecca Sutton, Lloyd Sutton and wife Danielle Sutton and Robert Dwayne McGough and wife Georgie McGough; sisters, Betty Lou Winters and Iva Nell Wilson; and 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ray Sutton was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ollie Lee Sutton and Royce Othel Sutton, his sisters Glenda Montgomery and Loretta K. Horton, and his grandson Johnathan Ray Crawford.
