Ruben Marentes 77 of Abilene passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in Abilene. Funeral Mass will be held at Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, 6:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home with a Rosary to begin at 7p.m. Ruben was born December 4,1945 in Hamlin, TX to Manuela Marentes and Felixiano Marentes. Ruben received his primary education from Hamlin public schools, graduating in 1967. After High School he started working and worked at the Mill in Hamlin. He relocated to Abilene and worked for US Brass for over 20 years. Ruben and his wife owned Alamo A's Furniture store in abilene and helped many families. He loved spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. He was a avid baseball fan and coached hundreds of children in Abilene over the years. Ruben was kind and outgoing and would help just about anyone in need. Ruben was preceded in death by wife Elida Rodriguez Marentes, parents Feliciano "Felix" Sr. and Manuela Marentes, brother Felix Jr., sisters; Irene Ramon, and Lupe Ramos Rodriguez. Left to cherish his memories are: daughters: Kelli Marentes of Abilene,TX. Cindy Stephens (J.D.) of San Antonio, TX., Amy Gearhart (Nick) of Abilene, TX., Brandy Flores (Joey) of Abilene, TX. 24 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and a host of extended family and many friends.
