Ruby Inez Cupps Davis
Ruby Inez Cupps Davis 94 of Abilene went home to be with the Lord on February 13 2011. Visitation will be from 5 -7 p.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street . Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at North's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rick Rister officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home.
Ruby was born in a covered wagon on September 10 1916 to William D. and Julia Mae (Pruitt) Cupps in Oplin Texas as they traveled from Hawley to Santa Anna Texas . Ruby was educated at Central Delk and Hurlwood schools. She married local C.P.A. and artist Leonard E. Davis on July 23 1938. She worked at the Post Exchange at Childress Army-Airfield during WWII graduated Scoggins Beauty School in 1946 owned the Big Burger Cafes 1947 opened seven Leonard's Department Stores over West Texas ran the Torch Drivateria and worked for Mack Eplen's and Briarstone Catering.
Ruby was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 30 attended North Park Baptist Church and taught crocheting and knitting at Rose Park Senior Center and did volunteer work.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents her husband three brothers: Alan Dick and Ralph Cupps; four sisters: Beatrice Boyd Audrey Deatherage Billie Cotton and Dorris Marshall.
Ruby is survived by one sister Maude Rhodes of Abilene . She will be greatly missed by her numerous nieces nephews family and friends many of whom were aided in life by Ruby and Leonard.
