Obituary

Ruby Janice Knox, 77, of Abilene, Texas, died on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014. Graveside internment services will be held at 11 a.m.on Friday, Sept. 5,at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Road, Abilene, 79601. A memorial service and celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 2 p.m.on Saturday, Sept. 6, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 3150 Vogel Ave., Abilene, 79603. North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street, is handling arrangements. Ruby was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Jess Carl and Rosa Mae Standifer. She graduatedfrom Breckenridge High School and shortly thereafter met and married Ken Knox. They had two children, Kerry and Kelly. Ruby was very active in community service throughout her life and served on the Board of Directors of the Abilene Food Bank. She loved and cherished her husband and children and devoted her full attention to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and three of her siblings; Jesse Eugene Standifer, Harry Don Standifer and Leola May Denney. She is survived by her husband Ken Knox and her two children, Kerry Knox of Arlington, TX and Dr. Kelly Knox of Cincinnati, OH; her sister, Dortha Jean Walden; and her brother, Kenneth Standifer; many nieces and nephews, plus a very large extended family.
