Ruth Ather Nobles, 83 of Abilene passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at her home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM at North's Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Brooks. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
Ruth was born August 8, 1939, in Wheelock, TX to Ersula Loftis-Dunn and Jack Dunn. Ruth received her education in Wheelock Public Schools. Ruth married Mr. James Nobles who preceded her in death. Ruth worked at Abilene State School and later volunteered as a foster grandparent. She also volunteered at G.V. Daniels Recreation Center with seniors while visiting her friends. Ruth loved spending time with family and friends. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James Nobles. Both parents: Jack and Ersula Loftis-Dunn, siblings: Flossie Dunn, Jackie Dunn, Claude Dunn, L.K. Dunn, Prince Dunn, Clarice Conway, Virginia Heads, and Johnnie Dunn. Her beloved son James Nobles and granddaughter Monica Harrison.
Ruth leaves to cherish her loving memories: children, Pamela Johnson Wilson (David), Sharon Nobles (James Barnes), Marcus Harrison, Melvin Nobles (Misty Baker) of Abilene, TX, Richard Harrison (Jackie) of Austin, TX, and Debra Montgomery (Brian) of Arlington, TX, sisters: Willie Mae Green of Cisco, TX, Athalene Hodges of Dallas, TX, and brother: Malachi Dunn of Fort Worth, TX, and 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
