1st. Sgt. Robert D. King 88 of Abilene, TX passed away Monday, December 7th, 2020 at Hendrick Medical Center. Graveside services will be held Monday December 14, 2020 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 10am with full military honors.
Robert was born September 10, 1932 to parents Talbert King and Blanda Putnam-King in Calhoun City, Mississippi. He received his primary education from Calhoun City Public Schools. After graduating high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Army and served for 21 years. He was a very proud soldier who often spoke about how proud he was of his career in the military. Robert spent a lot of time in Lawton Oklahoma but often talked about moving to Abilene, TX, he loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, watching old western movies, and sitting on his porch every morning at 5:30am faithfully. Robert had a successful career in Real Estate and worked as a realtor, he loved rehabbing and flipping houses. He was also a proud member of the Free Masons.
Robert was preceded in death by both parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
Left to cherish his memories are wife Olga King of Abilene, sons; Franco Castro, Brandon Ramirez both of Abilene, daughters; Eva Sanchez of Florida, Shelbie Ramirez of Abilene, Mitzi Carter of Abilene, 15 grandchildren and host of extended family and many friends.
