Sharon Kay Haynes was born on November 13, 1943, in Abilene, Texas to Margaret and Harry Smith, Sharon passed away on December 20, 2025. She grew up in Abilene Texas and graduated from Abilene High School in 1961.
That same year, Sharon married the love of her life, Junius (Skip) Haynes, in Abilene. They shared many years together before his passing. Sharon spent her working life with JCPenney, where she dedicated herself faithfully throughout her career.
Sharon had a creative and nurturing spirit. She loved sewing and quilting, and she found great joy in gardening and caring for her plants. These hobbies reflected her patience, creativity, and love for creating beauty and comfort for those around her.
She is survived by her sons, Chris Haynes and wife Allison of Stephenville, Texas; John David Haynes and wife Candace Lee of Virginia Beach, her siblings, Mary Lou Butler and husband Bruce of Burleson, Texas; Nancy Jean Anderson and husband Andy of Galveston, Texas; and Steve Smith and wife Monica of Abilene, Texas; along with other beloved family members.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Skip Haynes, and her parents.
She will be remembered for her dedication to family, her hardworking nature, and the quiet love she shared through her talents and care for others.
