Sheria Deloris Ford Davis - a mentor to many and friend to all - passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of August 29, 2021. A memorial Service will be held Friday September 3, 2021 at 11am at North's Funeral Home Chapel. Sheria was born December 16, 1969 to Marie Ford and Raymond Ford in East Orange, NJ. She graduated East Orange High School and then pursued her cosmetology dreams. Sheria traveled the country exhibiting her hair creations in the Bronner Brother's Hair Show before stepping into her true passion, service to her community. Her career blossomed while working for the non profit La Casa De Don Pedro, where she became a full time community organizer. Through this tireless work she took part in several initiatives such as Project Vaccinate, increasing Census participation and implementing car seat safety programs that forever changed Newark, New Jersey. Around this time she became involved in politics, working with Cory Booker as a legislative aid and then as Director of Housing Opportunities for People With Aids (HOPWA). Sheria worked in community development until a tragic fall permanently disabled her and even in that catastrophe she turned her trials into triumph by starting her own customized line of crutches, Crutches By Design. Sheria gave her life over to Christ at a very young age and began singing for the Lord soon after. Her unwavering faith allowed her to minister to souls in many different ways: she preached in hundreds of churches, recorded a number of albums and wrote two books of her life Chosen. Broken. Shattered. Whole and Rotten Roots. Sheria truly lived a life of service and dedicated her full purpose to glorifying God and helping others. Sheria leaves to cherish her memories her nother, Marie Ford; her husband, John Davis; her children, Shenise Simmons, Muntasir Simmons, Robert Brown, Yolanda Graham and James Hammock Jr.; her grandchildren, Kailyn, Kaius, Demya and Janiyah; her siblings, Ramona Ford, Crystal Moore, and William Moore; treasured nieces and nephews, Kyeishawa, Kenyattah, Robert Jr., and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friend and family.
