Shirley R. Dortch 90 of Abilene passed away Monday June 10 2013. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Derrell Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St.   Mrs. Dortch was born September 13 1922 in Lubbock Texas to Oscar and Marie Jolly. She moved to Abilene in 1936. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1940 and McMurry University in 1944. She married Charles Dortch August 8 1952 in Abilene at the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Gamma Sigma Social Club. She taught music at Travis Elementary for nine years where she retired to raise her family. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church since 1961. Member of Home Builder Sunday School Class and Carpe Diem Study Club.   She was preceded in death by her parents two brothers David and Donald Jolly.   She is survived by her husband of sixty years Charles Dortch. Two sons Phillip Dortch of Abilene and Kenneth Dortch and wife Kimberly of Sunnyvale Texas. Two grandchildren Megan Dortch of Washington DC and Camden Dortch of Sunnyvale Texas.
