Shirley Ann Reed of Abilene was called to heaven on July 3rd 2014, Shirley was born in Lowell Massachusetts on December 25, 1946 to Floyd and Pauline Vaughn. Her family moved many times while growing up, finally settling near the community of Hodges in Jones County. Shirley met and married Alfred W. (Al) Reed and settled in Abilene, where they raised their two sons. Shirley returned to the work force after being a home maker, working for Texas Instruments, Victor Equipment, and Wal-Mart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one nephew. She is survived by her sister Gayle Benham and her husband Richard (Dick) Benham ; Son Allen Reed of Lampasas Texas; Son Eric Reed and his wife Carmen Martin Reed of Sweetwater Texas; Granddaughter Piper JoyAnn Reed of Sweetwater; Mother-in-law Opel Reed Collins; Brother-In-Law Charles Reed; Sister-In- Law Elvie Reed Rose of Haysville Kansas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley's loving memory will continue to live on in our hearts. Memorial service will be held Friday July 18th at 10:30am, at Calvary Baptist Church 1165 Minter Lane Abilene Texas.
