Shirley Wright Roland, 78, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17 in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Str. under the direction of North's Funeral Home, with Mike Bailey officiating. Shirley was born June 8, 1938 in Jackson, Mississippi to Pat Wright and Virginia (Burkett) Wright. She married Gene Roland on November 18, 1956 and her husband's job brought them to Abilene in 1964. Shirley enjoyed raising her three children and spending time with her grandchildren. Family was most important in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Virginia Wright, husband Gene Roland, brother, Ray Wright and grandson, Jeremy Johnson. She is survived by; one son; Steve Roland and his wife Shirley of Burleson, Texas. Two daughters; Sharon Gardner and husband Bill of Grapevine, Texas and Lisa Keith and husband Steve of Abilene. One sister; Carolyn Hust of Jackson, Mississippi. Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
