With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Simon Anda Nankwe "Youngman" , who departed this life on July 29, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was 72 years old. Simon was born on October 20, 1952, in Konda village in the North-Western Region of Cameroon, to Ibanaku Ntsene (mother) and Ibanaku Nankwe (Father). As the youngest of three children and the only son, Simon brought joy and warmth to all who knew him. He received his education at Basel Mission School in Konda and later built a career as a typist, serving diligently at the Public Works Department of Bamenda. In 1976, he got married to Takwi Margaret Akwi, with whom he shared a loving and devoted partnership until her passing in 2001. He spent part of his life in the coastal city of Victoria, now called Limbe in the South-Western Region of Cameroon. He loved his job as a typist and volunteered with the Public Works Department soccer team, where he sold tickets at the gate during soccer matches. During his youth, Simon served in the military in Cameroon. Simon moved to the United States in 2017, where he continued to live a life marked by faith, family, and friendship. As a devoted Christian, Simon was a faithful member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas. His deep spirituality and warm presence made him a cherished member of the congregation. Simon had a genuine love for people. He was known in the neighborhood for his trademark double-handed greeting, his joy in visiting with family, and his enthusiasm for family gatherings. His friendly nature and welcoming smile made him a beloved figure to many. He is survived by his children: Calista Nankwe, Pascal Nankwe, Derrick Nankwe, and twins Jude and Juliet Nankwe, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Takwi Margaret Nankwe, and his lovely daughter, Lillian Nankwe. Funeral services and viewing will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, starting from 2 pm at the Oldham Lane Church of Christ. A viewing will take place from 2:00-3:00 PM, church services between 3 to 4 pm, and lastly, a visitation from 4:00-5:00 PM. Later that evening, a Celebration of Life/Wake Service will be held at 8:00 PM at the Garden Club, located at 300 Westwood Dr., Abilene, TX 79603. Simon's legacy of kindness, faith, Humility, and love for community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
