Stuart Warren Long 65, of Abilene, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 13, 2017 in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Burial to follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Mr. Long was born May 30, 1951, in Abilene, Texas to Robert B. and Bobbie Jean (Stewart) Long. He attended school in Abilene, then served in the US Army as medic. Later, he worked in the oil industry, and for Crown Cork & Seal for several years and his final career was a mud logger in the oil industry. He loved spending time with family, camping, fishing, and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Jean Long and brother, Gordon Clay Long. Survivors include his father, Robert Long of Abilene, his son, Chris Mattox of Quitman, his daughter, Misty Fraker of New Braunfels, his son, Jessie Long of San Antonio, eight grandchildren and a nephew.
