Sue "Susie" Morgan Collins Tyler, Texas Mrs. Collins, age 88, died of natural causes on Tuesday, December 10th, following a long-term battle with dementia. Born September 28, 1925 in Merkel, Texas to Seth and Pearl Morgan, she was the youngest of three children. Susie graduated from Merkel High School and Draughon's Business College. She married Clarence Ray Collins in 1949. While pursuing her career as a secretary, she became very active in the Abilene community, volunteering for local, regional and national charities. Susie was an active member of the and Sunday School teacher at Southwest Park Baptist Church, and she was very involved in the local PTA.She was a very supportive and loving wife to her husband, and a nurturing, encouraging mother to her children. Her 9-year old grandson says, "She was a loving and caring woman".Susie also enjoyed rescuing and caring for animals and making her backyard a sanctuary for birds and butterflies. She enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling, reading, sewing and playing the piano. She found that her most passionate calling in life was that of being a grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Seth and Pearl Morgan, her husband Clarence R. Collins, her brother Harold Morgan, and her sister Mary Nell McIlroy. She is survived by her children Carolyn Collins (Dallas, TX) and Nelda Collins Jones (Bullard, TX), grandchildren Morgan Nelson (Lafayette, LA) and Luke Jones (Bullard, TX), and great-grandson Blake Bourque (Lafayette, LA).
