Sue Farr, beloved wife, mother, ZZ and teacher, passed away late Monday evening, March 30. She was 82. The family will welcome visitors on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. in Abilene. Her memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home, with Rick Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene, 7457 West Lake Rd. Services are under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Sue was born Oct. 26, 1943, to James Vernon and Betty Jo Reagan in San Bernardino, California. The family later moved to the Texas Panhandle, and she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961, then from Abilene Christian University in 1980. She married Larry Farr on May 28, 1987, in Abilene. She had a long career in education in Abilene, teaching at Valley View Elementary School from 1980-89 before working at Project Pass during the 1989-90 school year, where she developed a special connection with troubled children. Sue later said her greatest joy was teaching seventh-grade English at Franklin Middle School from 1990 until her retirement in 2005. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Faith Works and working at Christopher & Banks clothing store. She enjoyed spending time with friends she made from 25 years in education, being involved in work at her home church, participating in Bible studies and using her soprano voice in the choir. But most of all, she loved being a Zz to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a smile that lit up a room, and it followed her everywhere. She never met a stranger, and her home was always open to friends and family, as well as friends of her children. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, James and Betty Jo; her husband, Larry Don Farr; a son, Larry Shane Farr; and a grandson, Nathaniel Aaron Greene. She is survived by her children: Leigh Anne (Lomax) Campbell, and her husband, Al, of Keller; Kirk Lomax and his wife, Melissa, of San Antonio; Kim (Lomax) Elizondo, and her husband, Colby, of Round Rock; and Kristi (Farr) Edmondson, and her husband, Michael, of Waxahachie. Pallbearers for the funeral will be Al Campbell, Colby Elizondo, Ryan Lomax, Joshua Greene, Chase Roohms, Reagan Lomax and Landon Lomax. The family would like to pass along a special note of gratitude to the staff at both Georgetown Nursing and Transitional Care and to Suncrest Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association as a tribute to Sue.
