Tamara "Tammy" W. Blaxton, age 58 passed from this life on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be on Monday, June 1, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street, Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 12pm, Tuesday, June 2 at Old paths Baptist Church, 3501 Chimney Rock Road in Abilene with Wayne Lenz of Rowden Baptist Church officiating. Interment at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene will be private. Tammy was born on September 26, 1961 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Marie and Tommy Williams. Tammy grew up in a small town, to the Chief of Police, which kept her out of trouble that she would probably have gotten into. She grew up close to her family and extended family, which always included Sunday lunch at Memaw's house. In February 1983, Tammy met John Blaxton, who was stationed with the U.S. Air Force in NC, at a friend's house, to which she introduced herself as single. She told her friend and Mama that day, she was going to marry John. Later that month they had their first date, and with no uncertainty, they married April 9, 1983. They welcomed their first daughter, Brennan, November 8, 1983. After a few years in NC, John was transferred to Abilene, Tx, where on January 5, 1987 they welcomed their second daughter, Brittany. Tammy and John and their girls lived in Abilene ever since, making many friends that turned into family. Tammy lived everyday with laughter and a smile while always making sure someone else was laughing. Her and John coached softball for many years and she might have taken the game a little too seriously at times. Tammy worked as a Juvenile Detention Officer helping young troubled kids turn their lives around, for 15 years, where she retired in 2016. Her passion in life was always her family and friends. If you were her friend, you always felt as if you were her only friend, and she always put you before herself. Her family was her first priority. When she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April 2019, her main concern was John and the girls. Always checking on them and praying for them. Tammy went through chemo and radiation for a year, with courage and strength only she could have, without any complaints. Tammy is survived by John Blaxton of Abilene, Brennan and Jerod McColum and children Paeden and Ruger, of Weartherford. Brittany and Russell Allen, children Bode and Ryley of Clyde. Mike and Cindy Williams of NC. Jean Adams of NC. Many Brothers and Sisters in Law. Countless nieces and nephews and all her fur babies. Tammy is proceeded in death by her Mama and Daddy, Uncle Danny, Cousin Kim, Aunt Jackie and other loved ones. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research or any Animal Shelter. Flowers can be sent to North's Funeral Home.
