Obituary

Tanya Gannaway of Abilene passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at North's Funeral Home Friday October 6, 2023 at 10am. Visitation will be held Thursday October 5, 2023 from 5-7pm at North's Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Gonzales officiating.Tanya was born March 19, 1962 in Eastland, TX to Doris Ann Smith-Whisenhunt and Denny Dukes. Tanya received her primary education from Abilene public schools, specifically Jackson elementary and Abilene Cooper High School. In her spare time: she loved hanging out at the pool in the summers & fireplace in the winters. She loved going to the beach with the family. Her most favorite time was Thanksgiving, spending time with family and enjoying food. Tanya was preceded in death by her mom Doris Ann Smith-Whisenhunt, her dad Denny Dukes, step dad Dr Bud Smith, sister Camille Dukes, step brothers; Randy Castleberry, Kevin Castleberry, and Jeff Castleberry.Left to cherish her memories are sons: Brannon Gannaway wife Ivana, Kyle Gannaway, & Jordan Gannaway. Grandchildren; Alexa, Layla, Domanic, & Gavin. Her fiancé Douglas Tucker & his son Justin Tucker and wife Amy, Stepfather Bobby J Whisenhunt, brother Ray Dukes and wife Jan-Abilene TX, step brothers Tim Smith, Ryan Whisenhunt and wife Lindsay . Sisters; Sherri Dukes- Cross Plains, TX, Tina Wyatt husband Curtis- Cross Plains, TX., Dana Miller husband Ron- Abilene, TX., Lisa Hendricks husband Cornell-Plano TX. Stepsisters; Tammy McLean husband Ernie-Merkel TX & Jody Crafton-Abilene TX, Kellie Anderson husband Jeff. Nieces and nephews: Leslie Anderson, Cody Slatton (Darcie),Andrew, Brett (Eva), Chris Wheeler, Hayden Wyatt, Kersey Forbus (Austin), Brooklyn Martinez (Miguel), Britton Dukes (Delani), Brock Thetford (Jackie), numerous great nieces/nephews extended family and many friends. Tanya's family would like to express thanks to all friends, all her doctors, her home health nurse Teryn, and Occupational Therapist Justin.
