Obituary

Toni Janice Parr Cronk, 82, was called home to her Lord, early Monday morning, September 28, 2015. She was locally known in Abilene and surrounding areas as the "Banjo Lady" born to Benjamin "Ben" Turner and Myrtle Lee Carey Parr on March 3, 1933 in China Grove, Texas. She was the youngest of five children and was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Frances Tarver, Joyce Parr, and brother, Ben Parr, Jr. Toni is survived by her husband of almost sixty years, William "Bill" Cronk – retired Abilene Fire Department, and also known as "Cornbread", sons, Barry Parr of Abilene, William "Billy" Cronk and wife Jan of Palestine; daughters, Dawn Gwin and husband George of Palestine, Becky Smith of Abilene; brother, Dr. Ken D. Parr and wife Corrine of Richmond, Texas; eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Elmwood Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. Last respects can be made at North's Funeral Home in Abilene prior to the graveside service. Toni spent many years selling fine jewelry. In her more recent 20 plus years, Toni shared her love of music with many people. She played her banjo and other instruments for the enjoyment of residents of nursing homes, parades, and other local festivities. She was a member of the Country Jug Band, and Back Porch Band.
