Van P. Graham, 84, went to be with the lord on November 15, 2017. A Graveside Services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Elmwood Memorial Park, under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street.
Van was born in Denton Valley, Texas to Gurly William Graham and Ida May (Woody) Graham on September 11, 1933. He later lived in Trent, Texas where he graduated in 1954. From there he went straight into the United States Air Force, where after twenty years of service he retired in 1974, at Dyess Air force Base, in Abilene, Texas, as a TSgt. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He then moved to Abilene, Texas to be closer to his parents and daughters. He worked for the Taylor County Sheriff's Department until his retirement in 1995.
Van was a man of honesty, love, faith and support. He never wanted to be idled. He taught himself to sketch and paint at a young age. He painted a picture of his oldest brothers' hound dog and it still hanging at his nieces' house.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Wife, Christine Graham. Three brothers, Onis, Darrell and Bobby J. Graham and two sisters, Dora Jones and Alpha Williams.
Van was very proud of his three daughters, Kathy Holt, Vanette Jolly and Heather Miller.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren Summer Holt, Haylee Tallant, Jayden Holt, Jacob Wooten, Jasa Wooten, Austin Balderas and Melinda Miller. Five great-grandchildren, Suede Wooten, Gabriel Wooten, Irelyn Wooten, Jet Holt and Cooper Tallant.
Dad, you were cared and loved more than you will ever know. You be greatly missed. Now you can "Fly with the Angels".
