June was born April 10, 1922 to Roy and Eva Botsford in Hereford, TX. She married Owen Ray Neel on April 22, 1945. They lived in Amarillo, TX for many years, but had lived in Abilene since 2003.
June's delight was in teaching children, beginning with Sunday School classes while she was in junior high school. She blessed many lives through the years, teaching in children's church, children's revivals, and in later years, classes for adults.
Another joy was growing flowers. Her gardens in Amarillo drew many admirers and she won numerous trophies and awards at iris shows. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress. She did everything to perfection.
June was preceded in death by her parents; husband Owen Ray Neel; one sister, Aldyth Harrison; and two brothers, Irvin and Loy Botsford.
Survivors are her daughter, Lilith Mehaffey and Bob of Abilene; grandchildren Scott Smith and Cherisse of Lubbock, TX; Joel Smith and Neika of San Angelo, TX; great-grandchildren Rachel, Jadon, and Jasmine; a brother, Tom Botsford and Peggy of Fontana, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks goes to Hendrick Hospice for excellent care and emotional support during this difficult time.
