Virginia M. Hopper, born December 27, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away Tuesday May 20, 2025 surrounded by those who loved her. She was the beloved daughter of Henry and Bonnie McGehee Walker and moved to Abilene, Texas at an early age, where she was raised in a home filled with love, compassion, and care. Virginia was one of five adopted children and part of a remarkable family that included 45 foster children raised by Henry and Bonnie in Abilene. She attended Abilene High School and spent the majority of her life dedicated to caring for others, working for over 28 years at Sears Nursing Home and also serving at Coronado Nursing Home. She had a gentle soul and a deep love for animals-especially dogs and cats. She found joy in the simple things: watching television, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. Those who knew her will always remember her kind spirit and the way she loved with her whole heart. Virginia is survived by her two sons, Matthew Hopper (Miranda) of Hastings, Nebraska, and Jeremy Breth of Abilene; her grandchildren, Lawton Ray Hopper and Vera Mae Hopper; her brothers, Rusty Wells of Fort Worth and Jeff Wells of Fort Worth, Texas; and her sister, Elizabeth Whatley (Gary) of Southlake, Texas. She is also survived by her devoted life partner, Michael Breth of Abilene, and her best friend, Misty Hoffman of Abilene, whose companionship and love meant the world to her, and her adopted brother Nhan Van Hua and his wife Kim of Sugar Land, Texas. Virginia's life was one of care, compassion, and unwavering love. She touched many lives through her work and her open heart, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her. A memorial in honor of Virginia will be held at a later date.
