Virginia Anne Shore Terry, 78, died in Hendrick Medical Center with loving family and friends by her side on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, TX, 79601 with Jonathan Storment officiating. Virginia was born April 8, 1937, in Union City, TN. She was a 1955 graduate of Union City High School. Virginia Shore and Virgil Terry were married November 11, 1956. Virginia completed a Bachelor of Science of Education in 1988 at Abilene Christian University. Over 21 years she worked for Sweetwater ISD as a Special Educator/ Social and Life Skills Teacher. After retiring in 2009, she continued to substitute teach for Abilene ISD, until January 2016. She was superb at everything from being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and a mentor. Most of all, she was a woman of Christ. Everyone will miss her cooking, zest for life, generosity, winks and her smile. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Shore LC 'Slim" and Jewell Ward, and son, Kurt Terry. Those left to cherish her memories include her loving husband of 59 years, Virgil Terry of Abilene, Texas, son, Mark Terry of Abilene, Texas, daughter, Jennifer Melton (Jerry) of Sherman, Texas, sister, Brenda Perry (Ted) of Union City, Tennessee, daughter-in-law Teresa Terry, seven grandchildren, Ashley, Leslie, Lonna, Lauren, Nikki, Brittany, Zakkary, nine great grandchildren, Preston, Anna, Rebecca, Clara, Ryan, Tracen, Aurora, Harlee, Zachary, along with other extended family members.
