Virginia (Ginger) Doris Zavatson 79 of Abilene Texas passed away on Thursday December 27 2012. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street. A Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at North's Memorial Chapel.  Burial will be in Oddfellow Cemetery Denton Texas under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Ginger was born on August 19 1933 in Magee Mississippi to Rhea Augustus and Doris Walker. She was a graduate of Mary Hardin Baylor. She taught school and Physical Education in Brownsville Texas where she met and married Bill in 1954.   She was an Air Force wife with stations in San Antonio Texas Hawaii Bellville Illinois McGuire Air Force Base New Jersey and Taiwan with the last station being in Abilene Texas at Dyess Air Force Base in 1971. She worked many years in banking and retired from Bank of America. She was preceded in death by her parents sister June and step-mother Ruth. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years Bill Zavatson Major USAF Retired; son Mike Zavatson and wife Toni of Arlington Texas; Daughter Karen Walker and husband Scott of Montgomery Texas ; brother Bill Walker and wife Mildred of Richmond Texas; three granddaughters Kristi Thomas and husband Aaron Leah Protz and husband Greg Kari Atteberry and husband Justin; one grandson Walker Parkhill; two great-grandsons Isaac Protz and Carter Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and caregivers.
