Walter J. Morley, MSgt. (Retired) 79, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, December 31, 2016, surrounded by his children and family.
Walter was born on November 28, 1937 in Bad Axe, Michigan to Wesley and Lola (Roberts) Morley. He joined the Air Force after graduating from high school and proudly served his country for twenty-eight years. He then worked for the U.S.P.S. and retired in 2007. He married Sixta Compacion on February 27, 1971, while stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. He enjoyed the casinos in Shreveport, spending time outside, his family and watching football.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Sixta, his parents and his brothers, Leeland and Arnold Morley.
Walter is survived by his three children, Lola Garcia and husband Matt, grandchildren-Sabrina, Isaac and Xavier Garcia, of Abilene, Joann Morley, grandchildren-Jezabel Morley, Elexis and Precillia Hope Mayorga of Lewisville, Texas, great grandchildren Jayce Beltran, Dakota Young and Juliana Barrientos, Robert and wife Janna, grandchildren-Roman and Bella Morley of Aurora, Co. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, brother and sister in laws.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017, in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Paul Matta officiating. Following the service, Walter will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Sixta. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St.
