Obituary

Walter Ellis Yawn 93 loving husband father and grandfather went home to his Lord on Saturday July 28 2012 in Clyde Texas . The family will receive friends from 4:30- 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street . A Funeral Service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Clyde Church of Christ 206 S. 4 th Clyde Texas with David Peterson and Foy Hardesty officiating with burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene Texas under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Walter was born July 2 1919 to Jesse James Yawn and Elizabeth Wilkens Yawn in Wharton Texas . He married Flora Lilly Yawn on September 25 1946 in Abilene Texas . They enjoyed 66 wonderful years. Walter was a veteran in the U.S. Army and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1981 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed studying the Bible working in his garden and spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of the Baird Church of Christ serving as a deacon and loved to lead singing and praise God. Walter was preceded in death by his parents three brothers and one sister. Walter is survived by his wife Flora of Clyde; son Arnold Yawn of Clyde; daughter Theresa Jaworski and husband Paul of Hickory Creek Texas; sons James Yawn and wife Bridget of Joshua Texas Michael Yawn of San Juan Capistrano California: daughter Gretta Golden and husband Glenn of Abita Springs Louisiana; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
