Wanda Freeman (Mackey) Malone of Abilene passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Hendrick Medical Center. The family will have visitation on Monday, August 28th, from 5pm to 7pm at North's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 29th, at North's Funeral Home with Marcus Mackey officiating.
Wanda was born on November 28th, 1935, in Nolan County. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was an avid bowler and pool player. Wanda worked at Tyler Cleaners for 11 years. In her spare time, she volunteered and sang at nursing homes with the Gospel Benevolence Group. She loved to go to the musicals in Tye, Clyde, Anson, and Old Glory. She was fiercely independent and one tough old bird!
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Arttie Freeman; daughter, Billie Nichols; two husbands, Lavone Mackey and LC Malone; loving companion - Otis Woolam, her brother - James Freeman, brother - Glen Freeman, and sister - Winell Townzen.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lisa Mackey of Fort Worth, James Mackey and wife Kelley of Abilene and Eddie Mackey and wife Debbie of Abilene; sister in law - Carolyn Freeman Lindsey of Abilene; stepdaughter, Carolyn Redpath and husband, Edwin of Buffalo Gap; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
