Obituary

Wayland Bailey 89 of Abilene passed away Wednesday May 04 2011.  Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday in North's Memorial Chapel with great-nephew Pastor Justin Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Texas Veteran's Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange St .   Mr. Bailey was born January 7 1922 in Ovalo Texas to Wylie and Laura Bailey. He married Joyce Pinkerton on February 17 1949 in Abilene Texas . He worked for Citizen's National Bank for thirty-three years as Vice President. He also owned and operated Bailey's Pilot Service for ten years.  He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a member and past president of the Optimist Club and was also a Mason. He enjoyed square dancing with his lovely wife Joyce.   He is preceded in death by his parents.   He is survived by his loving wife Joyce of  sixty-two years. One son Wayland Bailey Jr. (Buddy) of Abilene .  Four sister-in-law's Janice  Stevens Vernon and husband J.W. of Abilene Texas Clydene Pinkerton of Abilene Blanche Cox of Abilene and Doris Hassell of Rhode Island.  Numerous nieces and nephews.   Online condolences may be made online at www.northsfuneralhome.com
