Waylon Ray Leggett was born October 24th, 1937 to Albert Ray and Jimmie Leggett in Abilene, Texas. In 1955, he joined the U.S. Air force, after serving the Air Force, he went to work as a machinist in 1960. In 1969, he decided to move his family to Missouri, where he continued working as a machinist, Commercial and Residential contractor and farming. In 1977, he decided to relocate back to his hometown of Abilene, where he used his knowledge and skills of Electrical and joined The International Brotherhood Electrical Workers (IBEW), where he was a brother and friend for 43 years. Upon retirement, he worked alongside of his dad on numerous occasions such as; a Caretaker of the Hamby Cemetery. These are just a few of his accomplishments, but what brought joy to him was caring for his parents, hunting, fishing, visiting Casinos or just spending precious time with his kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Special Cousins, Mary Frances, and Derrell Dobbs and an Uncle Dock Thornton. He is survived by his children; Charles Leggett of Hawley Texas, Rita Leggett of Mtn Grove, MO, Debbie (Doug) James of Solo, MO, William Leggett of the home. 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. One Sister Loretta Robbins of Dallas, Texas, nephew Randy Robbins of Lake Ray Roberts and a special double cousin Linda (Rick) Campbell of Abilene, Texas. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
