Avid golfer and decorated Air Force Major Wilford John Klump passed away on August 20 2010. Funeral Mass with Monsignor Fred Nawarskas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday August 26 at Holy Family Catholic Church 5410 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene with Military burial rites at 2:00 p.m. at the Texas State Veteran's Cemetery 7457 West Lake Road Abilene Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday with Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street. Will was born in Bliss New York on September 6 1936. He received an Associate's Degree from the State University of New York at Alfred and subsequently earned three Bachelor's Degrees. He served 23 years in the US Air Force and flew over 300 missions during three campaigns in Vietnam. Of his many military decorations he received the Distinguished Flying Cross the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. When he retired from the military he became a professional sports official and tax accountant. In 2007 he was inducted into the Abilene Chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials Hall of Honor. Will is survived by his wife Roxanne of 48 years three daughters Katy and husband Rick Magley of Orlando Julie and her partner Deb Morse of Boston Jane and husband Jeff Voss of Abilene; seven inspired grandchildren Evan Luke and Finn of Orlando Elizabeth of Boston and Jaxon Jayton and Jett of Abilene.
