Will Moon of San Marcos, Texas formerly (a 55-year resident) of Abilene Texas, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 after a bout with cancer. A Memorial service will be held Sunday March 26, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. in the Potosi Baptist Church with Butch Boatright officiating. Interment will follow in Potosi Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St.
Moon was born April 22, 1938 at Loraine, Texas to J.D. and Willie Mae (Jacob) Moon.
Moon was a utility contractor for twenty years in Abilene and many other parts of the state. After selling the business in 1984, Moon became an Auctioneer in 1986 and conducted many auctions in the area until 2005 when he became a registered provider by the state, conducting continuing education for Auctioneers and in 2007 became an instructor for MCC Auctioneering Academy in Waco for McLennan Community College. He made many lasting friendships with many auctioneers in the state and trained over 500 students to become auctioneers. Throughout the years, he enjoyed many hobbies; bee keeping, gardening, spur making, metal work, and ranching. He married Alice White in 2016.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Moon and a son Steve Moon.
He is survived by his wife Alice of San Marcos, Texas. Granddaughter Misty Moon and husband James T Pratka, great- granddaughters, Jacy and Jalyn Pratka of Abbott, grandchildren James Moon, Elizabeth Moon of Mansfield, Andrew Moon and wife Michelle Moon of Austin, Rachel Moon and Kenny Kohler and great- grandson Hudson Kohler of Mansfield.
