William J. "Bill" Newman, age 69 of Abilene passed from this life on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23 from 6pm to 8pm at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street, Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Rd, Abilene with Craig Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Bill was born on January 16, 1952 in Abilene to Truman and Joyce Rodgers Newman and lived in the Abilene area his entire life. He was a graduate of Wylie High School, class of 1970 and attended McMurry University. Bill was a dispatcher for the Abilene Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 2007. He loved motorcycles, guns and was a fan of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Truman and Joyce Newman. He is survived by his beloved wife Danie Jo Newman; children, Becky Harmon and husband Mike and Mark Jordan; brother Chuck Newman; grandchildren, Courtney, Kaysi, Christina, Lasie, Jimmy and 12 great grandchildren.
