Mr. Willie D. Ellis, 90, was called home on Sunday, October 29 2023 in Abilene, Texas to be with his Lord and Savior. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday November 11, 2023 at 1pm at Emanuel Community Church, 826 Hickory St. Abilene TX, 79603, with Pastor Bobby King officiating. Repast will be held at Galiliee Baptist Church 1011 Briarwood following the memorial service. Mr. Ellis was born on March 21, 1933 to Mr. Ector Willis and Velma Willis in Fairfield, Texas. He started work at the age of 13, picking cotton with his family, As and adult, Willie worked as a mechanic at Big Truck, and at Mrs. Baird's Bread for approximately 30 years. He also was employed at the Abilene State School for 23 years as foster grandparent and for Mrs. Brenda Mims (of Abilene) as caretaker for 30 years. He enjoyed landscaping and often mowed yards for the church and neighbors. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, camping, and gardening. He loved and provided for his family. Preceding him in death: His parents, four brothers and one sister. He leaves to cherish his memories: Five daughters - Gwen Ellis (Sweetwater), Yvonne Ellis (Abilene), Cassandra Phillips (Abilene), Yolanda Bussey (Sweetwater), Beverly Turner (Sweetwater). Six sons; Willie D. Ellis, Jr. (Brandy), Billy Charles Allen, , Melvin Allen, Don R. Allen of Abilene, Texas; Cal R. Allen of Washington, DC and R. L. Allen of Austin, Texas.
