Willie Hunter 76 of Hamlin, TX passed away Wednesday December 20, 2023 in Abilene, Funeral services will be held Thursday December 28, 2023 at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Hamlin with burial to follow at the Hamlin East Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday December 27, from 6-8pm at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange St. Abilene TX.
Willie Hunter was born January 12, 1947 to the late Jimmy and Sylvia (Davis) Hunter. He received his primary education from Oscar Depriest School. Willie went to work at Hamlin Elevator during his school years and worked there over 50 years as a mixer. Willie married Nonia Pearl (McGee) Hunter and to their union they had 6 children: Willie Loretta, LaVonda Pearl, Sharon Lynette and Jacqueline Evette Thomas Lorenza and RoShun LaNae. Willie was a die hard Dallas Mavericks fan, who loved Churches Chicken and ice cream sandwiches. He enjoyed night fishing, yard work and talking. He got cats to keep snakes away from the house and ended up with about 14 that he feeds daily. He loved his family, church family and was a wonderful provider. He liked cooking his red beans and chitterlins. He also worked with Hogs for many years.Willie was a track star and bragged about how fast he was,he would wait under the bleachers for his components to catch up then take off! Until the end he never slowed down.
Willie was proceeded in death by his parents Jimmy and Sylvia, Wife Nonia Pearl (McGee) Hunter, both paternal and maternal grandparents, two brothers WC and John T Hunter sisters; Minnie Lee, Ruth Brown, Daughters; Willie Loretta, LaVonda Pearl, Sharon Lynette and Jacqueline Evette.
Left to cherish his memories are his son Tommy (Kayla) daughter RoShun Hunter. Grand children: Tristan and Treyvon Bradsher, Amber, Darrius, Kleishaa, Kayden, Bailyn, Octavia, Kyson, JaCalvin; great grand children: Darriana, Chassidy, Zariyah, Nonia; sister Erma Mayes, sisters in law Gloria (James) Cork, Kathy McGee, brother in law William Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him greatly.
