Wilma "Jean" Waltrip of Abilene died Wednesday November 24 2010. Services will be held at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street at 11:00 a.m. Monday November 29th. It will be officiated by her grandson-in-law John Pappas of Maryland. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-5:30 p.m. at North's Funeral Home. Jean as she was known to her friends was born October 25 1933 in Rodgersville Missouri to Charles N. Green and Lelia P. Green. She was one of nine children. She married Douglas Waltrip Sr. of Abilene Jean helped Doug teach music run a country store and start what would be a family owned business. She was an avid bowler along with Doug and many family members and was featured in the Abilene Reporter News with her family as Abilene's Bowling Family in 1967. Jean and her teammates still hold two city records to this day. Everyone knew her as "Mama Jean". She was preceded in death by her husband Doug her parents two brothers and one sister and a daughter Casandra (Sandy) Sconyers. She is survived by two daughters Teresa Smith of Abilene and Jan and Steve Davis of Abilene; One son Douglas Waltrip Jr; seven grandchildren Teresa and husband Freddy Coutee of Pineville Louisiana David Brewer Jr and Candy of Abilene Michael and Tammy Rutledge of Abilene Marissa and Efrain Moreno of Houma Louisiana Chris "Bo" and Lauren Sconyers of Abilene Stefanie and John Pappas of Maryland Ryan Waltrip of Abilene: six great-grandchildren Freddy and Kalina Coutee Brittney Rutledge Christy Thompson Joshua Shipp Braxton Sconyers and Cody Hoover.
